Last May, I attended a basic photography workshop. I learned about the studio from a friend who frequently runs along the UP Diliman oval route. Coincidentally, she saw a post about the workshop on a bulletin board and, knowing my strong interest in learning the basics of photography, she informed me about it.
The initial rate for the 12-hour class was P3,640, but I managed to get a 10% discount, reducing the fee to P3,276. I paid the first half in April and settled the remaining balance on the day of my first class. Meanwhile, some of my classmates took advantage of an online deal offered by the studio and paid only P1,000 for a 6-hour class.
The studio is owned by a UP graduate couple, Ms. Ervie Villanueva and Mr. Geri Carretero, who named their art studio after their surnames. In addition to basic photography, they also offer other art-related classes. Fees for arts & crafts, drawing, painting, and cartooning are inclusive of materials, while photography students are required to bring their own cameras.

Both of my sessions with Sir Jeremy and Sir Geri ended with the same message: Practice makes perfect, so that means I need to buy more memory cards and batteries!
I have realized that photography is not just pushing the button to take a good photo. Photography is about observing the ordinary things and turning them into something interesting. It is an art of angles, light and sometimes, a matter of perfect timing.
