While coffee shops are commonly known as places for meetings, the newly opened One Plus Coffee in Circuit, Makati is designed as a co-working space. Diners can expect hanging wires from the ceiling for laptop charging, long tables for meetings, and free WiFi — all for their convenience. I can say that this coffee shop in Makati is very helpful for students doing group studies or professionals conducting corporate brainstorming sessions.

One Plus Coffee initially intended to offer only drinks to diners, but they have since decided to include food as well. Fortunately, Aldous, Tin, and I had the chance to try some of these dishes last Wednesday while their menu was still being updated.

All Time Favorites

Potato Chips

These potato chips looked absolutely lovely, resembling a big flower blossoming on our table. They come in large pieces — appearing thick but actually quite thin. They’re perfectly crunchy, with just the right balance of saltiness. Honestly, I was already satisfied with the chips alone, even without the dip. But oh, the dip was amazing too!

Szechuan Shrimp Balls

The Szechuan Shrimp Balls looked like a dessert to me when I was taking a photo, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was actually my favorite seafood in the form of balls. While Szechuan dishes are typically spicy, One Plus Coffee’s version offered no fiery kick but instead delivered a slightly tangy and sweet flavor. At first, I mistook the sauce for chocolate, but it turned out to be balsamic sauce — and that’s what worked its magic on this dish.

One Plus Sweet & Spicy Wings

Chomping these wings gave me a sweet flavor beforehand, however, the spiciness gets to me after eating a piece of it. Here’s One Plus Sweet & Spicy Wings.

Salad

Between the Caesar Salad and the Creamy Greek Salad, I prefer the latter. Maybe I’m just not a fan of acidic dressings like Caesar. Plus, the Creamy Greek Salad has a slice of cucumber, which made me like it even more.

Pasta

Aglio Olio

The Aglio Olio did not fail to satisfy my hunger. With al dente pasta, the rich flavor of garlic infused throughout, and the distinct taste of olive oil, there’s nothing more to ask for… but wait…

Meaty Baked Lasagna

Here’s another pasta dish – Meaty Baked Lasagna. It’s good, but not as indulgent as I expected.

One Plus Coffee Drinks

As for the beverages, which One Plus Coffee specializes in, there are a few drinks that would definitely pique your curiosity. To give you a preview, here are the sips I had.

Nutella Mocha

If you prefer a drink that’s not too strong, try the Nutella Mocha. It’s nutty with a hint of chocolate.

Latte Macchiato & Thai Latte

The Latte Macchiato has a stronger taste compared to the Thai Latte, which is the one with whipped cream on top.

Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte served iced and hot. I like the iced one better.

Sexy Cucumber Lemon

Kiwi Lemonade

It’s acidic but luxurious.

Alluring Strawberry Mocha

It’s not as sweet as I expected so I think this is better paired with a pastry or a slice of cake.

One Plus Coffee has an innovative strategy. Since Makati is a business district, people surely seek a place where they can stay longer in a conducive environment for finishing paperwork, studying, or holding meetings. The ambiance of the place reflects that concept, so passersby will surely note that it’s a great coffee shop to linger in whenever they need to.

The coffee shop is spacious, cozy, and well-ventilated. I also like how they play with the colors of the furniture and the Instagrammable frames on display. The food servings are intended to be small, considering the shop’s concept, but the drinks come in regular sizes just like in other coffee shops.

The staff is welcoming and joyful, which is something to expect in a good coffee shop. Truly, One Plus Coffee is a dependable spot whenever you need a table to rely on. Of course, you do have to order!
