One of the best Taiwanese restaurants in Taipei for breakfast is Fu Hang Dou Jiang, known for its delicious soybean milk, youtiao (fried dough sticks), and thick bread with eggs.
When we arrived at Hua Shan Market, we were greeted by a long line stretching from the second floor down to the building’s entrance. My friends and I couldn’t help but laugh — we had queued up without even confirming if we were in the right line!

Despite the crowd, the line moved faster than expected because the ordering process was quick and efficient, with more than three food attendants managing the front.

Since it was 5°C and raining, we ordered hot soy milk to warm ourselves up. For us Filipinos, it tasted quite similar to taho. Just a tip: be sure to stir it well, as the sugar settles at the bottom of the bowl.
For food, we ordered what seemed to be the crowd favorite — the Signature Thick Bread with Eggs and Donut Stick. There’s also a sesame bread version available, so you can choose your preference. Yes, it’s carb-on-carb — bread and a doughnut stick — but honestly, who cares when it’s this good! The doughnut stick was wonderfully crunchy, and we even tore pieces of it to dunk in our hot soy milk — a perfect combo for a rainy morning in Taiwan.

Fu Hang Dou Jiang is located inside a food court, and since it’s the only outlet open as early as 6 AM, finding a seat wasn’t a problem. The prices are reasonable, and the servings are generous — I even struggled to finish mine.
The fast and efficient service ensured that everyone was accommodated promptly. It was my first time trying this type of breakfast, and my inner foodie was incredibly happy and satisfied with my brekky!
