If you think you need to be a Picasso to pick up a brush, think again! My friends and I recently booked a painting session at Sip & Gogh for P1,200, and we spent the entire time painting, eating, and laughing until our sides ached. Even if you aren’t an artist, you can dive into this experience without any fear. After all, even the most talented pros started with imperfect strokes!

Booking and Location

My friend handled our group booking online for the six of us. The process is simple: visit their website, pick your branch, and secure your slot.

We headed to the Eastwood branch. Just a heads-up for those driving: this specific branch doesn’t have its own parking, so we conveniently parked at the nearby malls instead.

Sip and Gogh Schedule

Sip & Gogh offers several time slots throughout the day:

  • 10 AM – 1 PM
  • 1 PM – 4 PM
  • 4 PM – 7 PM
  • 7 PM – 10 PM

We chose the 7 PM session because most of my friends work the night shift. By the time we arrived, the earlier groups were finishing up, leaving the entire shop to just our barkada. It honestly felt like we had rented out the whole studio for a private party!

If you have time before your 7 PM session, I highly recommend stopping by Ace Water Spa in Quezon City first. It’s a great way to loosen up those muscles in the hydro massage pools so your painting hand is nice and relaxed by the time you reach Sip n Gogh!

The Artistic Setup

You don’t need to bring a single thing because Sip & Gogh provide all the materials:

  • Canvas
  • Brushes
  • Paint (including some cool glow-in-the-dark options!)

I felt like a kid again trying the glow-in-the-dark paint for the first time. The best part? They use quick-dry paint, so we didn’t have to wait around—we brought our masterpieces home the moment we finished.

And if you still haven’t had enough of the art scene, you can head over to Art in Island in Cubao—it’s just a short drive from Eastwood and offers a totally different, immersive 3D art experience that’s perfect for more photos

Guided by the Pros

Our coach, a talented UP graduate, kept things polite and professional while teaching us actual techniques. The session felt relaxed and fun, mostly because my friends kept the energy high with their usual antics.

The Creative Process: “String Lights”

For the P1,200 session, the painting theme is pre-determined. On our night, we tackled “String Lights.”

  1. We started by layering the background.
  2. Then, we carefully outlined the strings and light bulbs using white paint.
  3. Finally, we brought the bulbs to life with vibrant colors.

It looked simple on the reference board, but it actually took us quite a while to finish! The real “wow” moment happened when they dimmed the lights—our paintings actually glowed!

Wine, Tea, and Charcuterie

The session fee already covers the food. Sip and Gogh serve a charcuterie board paired with a choice of iced tea or wine. Since most of us are in our “trentahin” and had to drive home, we played it safe with iced tea to also keep our painting hands steady!

A Surprise Gift

The studio walls feature stunning art pieces that might tempt your wallet. Luckily, we have a very generous friend who bought an additional painting for everyone in the group! These pieces also go for P1,200 each.

The Verdict

My friend was right when she pushed us to do this. She promised we’d have paintings to laugh at later, but the truth is, we started laughing the second we picked up our brushes.

If you’re looking for a unique bonding activity with your barkada, you should definitely give Sip and Gogh a try.
