Even though I worked near Century Mall in Makati for almost two years, I never really explored the area. Sure, I’d stop by for office supplies during work hours, but I never lingered long enough to check out the restaurants.
That changed when I scored a voucher from Metrodeal and invited my high school best friend, who also works nearby, to join me for dinner at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen.

We kicked things off with their gyoza, and wow — it did not disappoint! Each piece was perfectly browned but not burned, giving it that ideal balance of crunchy yet soft. The filling was juicy and flavorful, making it an absolute must-try.

Since tonkotsu ramen is their specialty, MJ and I both decided to give it a go.
(Quick Ramen Fact: “Tonkotsu” means pork bone, which refers to the rich, almost creamy texture of the broth.)
The waitstaff asked how we’d like our noodles — soft, normal, or hard — a nice touch that let us customize our bowls. Each table was also set with condiments, and they served house tea as well.

Curiosity got the best of me, so I ordered the Black Garlic Tonkotsu — I mean, I’d never tried black food before! 😂
The broth was garlicky, but not in an overpowering way — definitely not like munching on Boy Bawang! The blend of roasted garlic with the rich broth was spot on, and I later learned it’s one of their bestsellers — no surprise there!

Meanwhile, MJ — my curry-obsessed friend — was predictable as ever and went for the Curry Cheese Tonkotsu. Naturally, I had to take a bite too.
Her bowl was rich, flavorful, and incredibly filling. Topped with potato, carrots, seaweed, and parmesan cheese, it was a satisfying blend of comforting flavors.

Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen’s wooden interiors are quite eye-catching, but the dim lighting made the place feel a bit too dark for my liking.
Price-wise, it’s a little pricier than other ramen spots I’ve tried, but the generous servings left us feeling completely satisfied.
While the plating wasn’t exactly Instagram-worthy, the flavor made up for it.
The service was quick, though I found the staff a bit stiff — a little warmth would’ve made the experience even better.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen is a solid choice if you’re craving a hearty bowl of ramen in Century Mall. The flavors — especially the Black Garlic Tonkotsu — left a lasting impression. Would I go back? Definitely, but I might try a different ramen variant next time.
