After eating at Tim Ho Wan, we thought of having dessert at Nono’s instead of the usual Starbucks.

The first Nono’s restaurant opened in Quezon City at UP Town Center in April 2017.

Nono’s was founded by Chef Baba Ibazeta-Benedicto, a well-known pastry chef who first made her name through her bakery business, Classic Confections, which supplied cakes and pastries to cafés and restaurants around Manila.

Eventually, she launched a full-service comfort food restaurant and named it Nono’s, after her father.

Nono’s Ambiance

I really like the ambiance of Nono’s. The place feels spacious and cozy at the same time. It doesn’t feel cramped at all and can easily accommodate large groups, based on what I’ve seen.

Nono’s Sweets We Tried

I ordered the Chocolate Oblivion Cake (₱245) since I’m a huge fan of chocolate cakes. It was moist, with deep cocoa notes, and not overly sweet. The walnut praline added a nice crunchy texture, which made the cake more interesting.

My friend, who’s also a chocolate cake lover, ordered Vitto’s Chocolate Cake (₱215). I got to try it as well, and it’s a classic, straightforward chocolate cake—simple and satisfying.

Meanwhile, my friend’s spouse ordered the Pain au Chocolat (₱195). It was a huge, buttery, and flaky croissant with dark chocolate inside.

Lastly, my friend ordered the Red Velvet Cheesecake (₱245). I tried it too, and it was moist with a creamy cheesecake layer. The frosting was rich and full of cream cheese flavor.

We ended up staying longer than planned because Nono’s is such a great place to catch up with friends.

Verdict

Nono’s is a cozy and spacious spot, perfect for catching up with friends. Their desserts are delicious and well-executed—the Chocolate Oblivion Cake is rich and chocolatey, Vitto’s Chocolate Cake is a classic favorite, the Pain au Chocolat is buttery and flaky, and the Red Velvet Cheesecake is moist with creamy frosting. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy sweets and linger over coffee or conversation.
