We have this high school friend named Angelo who often bails on our plans whenever we try to catch up. So when MJ, Hannee, and I were surprised by his invitation to hang out, we couldn’t help but tease him — joking that he might be announcing that he’s getting married or having a baby.
Well, we were right… but not quite. He did have a baby — but it was a new car! My instinct tells me that Angelo wanted to take us out for a drive, perhaps reminiscing about our college days when we used to ride jeepneys together from Manila to Novaliches. Although we studied at different universities, we still managed to meet up and go home together. Clingy, I know. Lol.
Angelo promised to treat us to the best restaurant in Quezon City for delicious ribs. To my surprise, it was Rub Ribs, a place I often passed by near my workplace — always seeing long lines of eager diners waiting outside. I felt lucky that I finally had the chance to try it.

Rub’s Ultimate Fries
To kick things off, we ordered the Rub’s Ultimate Fries (₱185), which was generously topped with gooey cheese. One thing I liked about their fries was their soft, slightly flimsy texture. They were served with jalapeño and bacon — a perfect combination!

Rub Ribs Family Brunch Meal
For our main course, we ordered the Family Brunch (P 720) which is good for four and comes with 3 side dishes of our choice.
SIDES:
- Potato Fries
- Roasted Garlic Mashed Potato
- Grilled Buttered Corn
- Garlic Spinach and Mushroom
- Texas Coast
- Bacon and Potato Salad
- Coleslaw
- Buttered Vegetables
- Sprice (Spiced Fried Rice)
- Bacon & Mac & Cheese
- Creamed Spinach
- Creamed Corn
The ones in bold are the sides we chose. I highly recommend the Garlic Spinach and Mushroom — it’s incredibly flavorful! We also tried Sprice (₱75/serving), a shrimp-infused rice with a hint of paella flavor. It tasted great, but I only managed to eat half of it since I’m not much of a rice lover. For those who enjoy rice, though, one serving might not be enough to match the huge rib portion.

I couldn’t agree more with Angelo’s description — their ribs are top-notch yet reasonably priced. The serving size was so big that my jaw dropped! The meat was tender and easily fell off the bone. We savored every bite of our award-worthy late lunch.

Rub Ribs Pasta
We also ordered the Chicken Cajun Pasta (₱200), a creamy linguine dish topped with large chicken strips and generous pieces of garlic bread. It was quite filling, though not as spicy as I expected.

Rub Ribs Dessert
For dessert, we ordered the Banana Caramel Crepe (₱190). Although the waiter mistakenly brought us the wrong dessert, we decided not to complain since we had already dug into it. MJ and Angelo skipped the dessert since they’re not fans of cinnamon, but Hannee and I loved it. The vanilla ice cream was a delightful touch!

I can confidently say that the glowing reviews I read online were accurate. The food was affordable — while rib dishes in most places typically cost over ₱400, Rub Ribs offers them for just ₱200+, and the quality doesn’t disappoint. The portions are generous, making the pricing feel like a steal.
That said, the Tomas Morato branch is quite small, which may feel uncomfortable for those who are claustrophobic. Thankfully, the space is air-conditioned, and the interior features a few art pieces that create a pleasant ambiance. While the wait staff was courteous, the one assigned to our table mistakenly delivered the wrong dessert. Additionally, the payment process was a bit slow, which extended our stay.
Despite those minor hiccups, our overall experience was fantastic. If you’re craving delicious ribs without breaking the bank, Rub Ribs & BBQ is definitely worth a visit!
