I recently tried a beginner reformer class at Club Pilates Manila in North Fairview, Quezon City, and here’s my honest take on the experience.
Booking
Booking at Club Pilates Manila can be done through their website. I initially communicated with them via Instagram and was instructed to sign up on their website. Creating an account is required to book classes. It’s quite a tech-savvy process, and I was glad that the ambiance felt geared toward Gen Zs and millennials who are comfortable with technology.

Location
The studio is located on the second floor of a building and offers one parking slot exclusively for Club Pilates Manila clients.
Upon entering, you’ll immediately see the reception area. The space is very clean and features a pink aesthetic that gives off a vibe of women empowerment.
Equipment and Facilities
We used a reformer machine during the session. After it ended, we sanitized the equipment we had used. The locker boxes are located near the entrance, and there’s also a shower available.
Class Atmosphere
The instructor during our session was the owner herself, Emma. She had a supportive presence and clearly explained some of the technical aspects of Pilates basics. I’m a beginner, while my friend already has some experience. Emma was able to guide me through the breathing exercises, how to protect my lower back, and the correct movements.
However, at the end of the session, we weren’t given any feedback on areas we could improve on.
Since we joined a group session, she led the class with a friendly vibe while still providing valuable insights on proper posture and form.
Attire
For your Pilates class, it’s best to wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows you to move freely. Clothes that are too loose can get in the way or make it hard for the instructor to check your form.
- Hair ties
- Fitted top
- Supportive sports bra
- High waisted leggings
- Grip socks
- Water bottle
Results
A day after the class, I felt soreness in some of the muscles we worked on—clear proof that Pilates is effective. I exercise regularly, doing glute, thigh, and core workouts, as well as biking and running, so I initially thought the Pilates session would be easy. I even felt a bit bitin afterward. But wow—who knew that such slow, controlled movements could burn that much?
Overall, as a first-timer, I would recommend Pilates to anyone curious to try it, especially beginners. I can confidently say it’s effective. However, since my understanding of Pilates is still limited, I’m not sure if it Club Pilates Manila is as beneficial for athletes or those with prior experience. That said, I’m personally satisfied with my experience at Club Pilates Manila.
