Curves, an Australian fitness brand, is now in the Philippines! Located in Eastwood, this gym offers a workout program that only takes 30 minutes — yes, just 30 minutes! They have two branches: one in BGC and another in Eastwood, QC. Plus, Curves is an exclusive gym for women, empowering them to become stronger inside and out, as their tagline proudly says.

The manager in Eastwood, Ms. Liezel, assessed my body and asked me about my personal goals and what I wanted to improve. After telling her that I wanted to have a bigger behind, she explained that I would need to reduce my waistline and work on enhancing my glutes.

Introducing Their Machine

The machines at Curves are made of hydraulic resistance mechanisms. They produce a “ssssshh” sound when you apply more force while using them.

The Circuit

As the name suggests, upon entering the gym, you will immediately see the machines arranged in a circular path. Each machine targets specific areas such as the arms, legs, core, butt, posture, balance, and overall strength. Since I am not really fat, Coach Kaye mentioned that my body will be toned.

My Experience

It’s indeed the toughest part of my day. The circuit consists of twelve stations — twelve machines and twelve boards for the resting phase. You spend 30 seconds on each machine and another 30 seconds on a recovery board, then repeat the cycle. There’s a one to two-minute rest period. There’s no need to worry about how to properly use the machines since the coach is there to guide you.

The coach will be with you for the proper posture during exercises.


In circuit, you will have two rounds consuming your thirty minutes. There is also a stretching area after working out.

Changes

In just two weeks, I could see that my muscles were starting to appear and get toned. My butt was also beginning to develop muscles, which made me really happy. I believe I would have seen even more progress if I hadn’t stopped. Unfortunately, my workplace is very far from Eastwood, and considering the traffic, Curves would already be closed by the time I got there.

They also offer Zumba, but with a twist! The dance routine is combined with exercises at each station, ensuring you burn even more fat — burn, baby, burn! The gym also provides a washroom, shower room, and lockers for your convenience. Plus, they are open for franchising.
