My mother and I stayed at Oxford Hotel for 6 days and 5 nights during our trip to Singapore. After a smooth flight and a quick cab ride from Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, we arrived at the hotel around 6 PM. The check-in process was straightforward, and we were both excited to finally settle in and start exploring the city.
Location
We took a taxi from the front of Terminal 4, where our flight landed. I’m not exactly sure about the distance, but the fare was SGD 36.87 (₱1,581.77), which seemed reasonable for the convenience.
Oxford Hotel is situated on Queen Street, and I found the location to be very accessible. There are about four bus stops within the vicinity. Surely this is a cheap hotel in Singapore near MRT as it is approximately a 10-minute walk to the Bugis MRT station. Bugis Street is just a 7-minute walk away, while Bugis+ Mall is even closer at about 5 minutes on foot. And for fellow Filipinos — there’s a Jollibee nearby, just a 9-minute walk from the hotel!
Booking
We booked the hotel via Agoda, but I found it through Google Maps. Google suggested that the hotel is quite popular among Filipino travelers. The nightly rate was cheaper than another hotel I was considering, so I decided to go with this one.
The total price for 6 days was SGD 472.84 (₱20,315.90).

Lobby
Now I understand why it’s more affordable. The building is a bit old, but still looks well-maintained. The Oxford Hotel is spacious and has enough couches for guests to use while waiting. Check-in was easy — they only asked for my Agoda voucher and gave me the key card. There was no security deposit required, unlike in most hotels in Manila.
The lobby smelled quite nice — not overpowering. It actually reminded me of my Sparkling Star mist cologne from Bath & Body Works.
Check-out was just as easy: simply hand over the key card and you’re done.
Bedroom
We had a bit of trouble getting into the room at first — I couldn’t unlock the door, lol. I had to go down to the front desk to ask for help. The staff assisted us and apologized for the inconvenience.
The room had twin beds, no terrace, and no scenic view from the window. It was simply a place to sleep, which was fine for us. It had a TV, a chair, and was carpeted. The bathroom was clean and had hot and cold showers. Towels and toiletries were provided, but there were no slippers.
Other Facilities
I don’t think the hotel has a restaurant, but that’s understandable since there are plenty of hawker stalls nearby. There’s no swimming pool either, which is fine if you’re mostly out exploring anyway.
Conclusion
Overall, Oxford Hotel is a decent choice if you’re looking for a budget-friendly place to stay in Singapore with a great location. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean, convenient, and close to everything — especially if you’re planning to explore the Bugis area. Perfect for travelers who just need a comfortable place to rest after a long day of sightseeing.
