A college friend of mine who now lives in the US recently came home for a vacation. Funny enough, she was the one who recommended we eat at Vinta Modern Carinderia, she had already tried it a few days earlier and loved the food.

Location and Ambiance

Vinta Modern Carinderia is located beside Tablo Bistro along Scout Borromeo, Quezon City.

Despite its name, it feels more like a “carinderia for sosyalera,” lol. The ordering process follows the classic carinderia style, you simply point at the dishes you want from the display, but here, the servers still bring your food to your table.

The ambiance is beautiful and aesthetic. The space feels refreshing: bright, airy, and warmly lit. Wooden furniture, rattan accents, and lush greenery make the place cozy yet modern. It’s definitely more elevated than your usual carinderia, but still relaxed and welcoming. It’s the kind of spot where you can enjoy comfort food and long conversations with family or friends.

Food

Gising Gising

We ordered this vegetable dish to balance out all the meat. Vinta’s Gising Gising (P190) uses string beans and wing beans, plated in a more modern style. The flavors didn’t disappoint, the coconut milk had just the right richness and creaminess.

Bistek Lechon Baka

This was easily our group’s favorite. Bistek Lechon Baka (P590) was so tender, while the bistek sauce brought the perfect balance of tangy, savory, and slightly sweet flavors. A must-try!

Vinta Fried Chicken

The Vinta Fried Chicken (P390) came out crispy, with perfectly seasoned skin. It was served with fries on the side—simple but satisfying.

Verdict

I honestly have nothing but good things to say about Vinta Modern Carinderia. Every dish we tried was delicious, and I think the food tasted even better because of the comforting atmosphere. The restaurant feels open and inviting, making it a great place to eat and catch up with friends.

The only downside is that the portions lean on the smaller side, especially if you’re dining with big eaters (though for us, it was just right since one of my friends was on a diet, haha). Still, the flavors more than make up for it. I’ll definitely bring my mom here next time.
