The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery is named after how dreams turning into reality – the seed stands as the idea… the idea of sharing the passion of the owners for food and drink. If you find yourself in the area, check this café restaurant in UP Town Center, Quezon City.

Fat Seed Menu

The passion cannot be just shown only with how the food is presented but also on how they have put up their menu. The root of a plant means it is the beginning – the appetizer section; the vines is referred to pasta; the leaf is referred to food with sandwiches that have veggies; the branch, the strongest part of the plant is referred as the main course since the main course made us strong the entire day. Wow, such an analogy! In a little bit, I will show you some of the food presented to us, bloggers, in the name of Team Aldous.

The Food

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce

The Fat Seed serves an all-day breakfast so let’s start off with the colorful meal – Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325). It comes with pickled red onions, salted egg sauce that is good to pair with the buttermilk fried chicken and the bacon-infused maple syrup for the waffles. What a wonderful breakfast to have!

The Fat Seed Signature Porkchop

The next food we had is The Fat Seed Signature Porkchop (P395). The creamy deli mustard sauce balances the flavor of the beef brine porkchop. The sweet potato puree, however, is the one that caught my palate.

Hotate Soy Cream Pasta

My favorite in all of the food served is the Hotate Soy Cream Pasta. From the name, it is obviously a Japanese dish. It has ebiko (roe), nori shreds, hotate (scallops), bonito flakes, and the wafu pasta which is where the exploring flavors come from! I super love it.

I am highly recommending Hotate Soy Cream Pasta where can be found only here at this restaurant in UP Town.

Wagyu Pares

We were also able to try Wagyu Pares (P305). It’s a meal with fried rice, shao xing rice wine, and the wagyu beef cubes. The meat is tender and the sauce is delectable.

Purple Haze and Rojito

The owners let us try the newest addition on their menu – the purple haze which is a whiskey sour but served with cranberry that made the cocktail purple and the rojito which is a mojito but with a twist.

Coffee

Here are the sample pictures of the coffee they offer. I did not try this one because I have a problem with sleeping when I drink coffee at night.

Verdict

The ambiance cafe is inspired by industrial interiors but pretty much elevated to a casual fine dining cafe because of the lights and the aesthetically arranged decorations. The bar in the center adds glamour to the place. The only problem I can see here is space since the cafe is rectangularly shaped. The price is a little inclined to be pricey for me but considering the market of the area, I may say that it’s reasonable. The serving is well-portioned and the food is also good. Lastly, the service is great since they approach in a friendly manner.
