My high school friends and I decided to hang out in BGC on one Saturday. Since BGC has a lot of restaurants, we already planned where we’d want to eat and spend the night having a good chat. Through research, I’ve learned that Burnt Bean has a lot of search volume on Google, which means that there are a lot of people dining in here.

Location and Ambiance

Burnt Bean in BGC is located at C2 Building, Bonifacio High Street Central. When we arrived, there were no available seats inside the restaurant, so we settled for the al fresco area. Anyway, it was already around 9:00 PM when we got there.

The ambiance of Burnt Bean in BGC is cozy and casual. Reflecting its “wood-fired” concept, the restaurant features wood accents and dark metals, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Food

Compressed Watermelon (P450)

We ordered the Compressed Watermelon salad since it felt new to our palate. It turned out surprisingly good,  I didn’t know watermelon could taste great in a salad! It also has arugula, basil, and mint, which give it a refreshing kick.

Elote-Style Corn (P220)

“Elote-style” refers to a preparation of corn inspired by elote (pronounced eh-LOH-teh), a famous Mexican street food. This dish was another pleasant surprise — it had a zesty flavor from the lime and a creamy, smoky blend that we really loved. Our favorite.

Smoked Pistachio Pesto (P560)

This mafaldine pasta dish is flavored with smoked pistachios and pesto. It tasted nice for the first few bites, but after a while, it became a bit salty, maybe because of the cheese.

Fried Chicken (₱560.00)

This was the least complex dish we ordered at Burnt Bean. It’s boneless chicken thigh served with mashed potatoes and flavorful gravy. The chicken itself was tasty and cooked well.

Verdict

Burnt Bean in BGC delivers a cozy, casual dining experience with food that’s both creative and flavorful. It’s a great spot for casual catch-ups and late-night dining, especially if you enjoy wood-fired dishes and a relaxed ambiance, though expect some crowding during peak hours.
