If you are looking for a quick weekend getaway from the city hustle, Gaea’s Kitchen in Tanay, Rizal is a serene hillside spot that blends farm-fresh comfort food with sweeping views. Nestled among flower terraces and lush greenery, this pet-friendly dining sanctuary offers a panoramic backdrop featuring Laguna Lake and the distant Pililla Windmills.

My former Makati dormmates and I recently reconnected after five long years. Coincidentally, one of our friends had just bought a new Montero—and what better way to celebrate a brand-new ride than with a scenic road trip filled with endless banter and nostalgia?

Our Tanay food crawl took us through a great lineup: brunch at Wyndell’s Al Fresco, mid-day coffee at Dean & Deluca, and finally, Gaea’s Kitchen as our last stop for an afternoon merienda.

Key Information for Visitors

Entrance Fee

Gaea’s charges an entrance fee that is 100% consumable at their restaurant or coffee shop:

  • 0–5 years old: Free
  • 6–12 years old: ₱100
  • 13 years old and above: ₱200

Operating Hours & Amenities

  • Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Closed on Mondays)
  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, reliable cellular signal, indoor air-conditioned dining, and outdoor garden seating

Parking & Reservations

There is a designated parking area inside the property, though slots are limited. Since we visited on a Saturday without a reservation, we had to wait briefly. Luckily, arriving around 2:00 PM worked in our favor as the lunch crowd was already winding down.

Top Attractions at Gaea’s

Established in 2019 as a farm sanctuary and arboretum, GAEA takes its name from the ancient Greek goddess of nature and Mother Earth.

Flower Terraces & Sprawling Gardens

Multi-tiered flower terraces and landscaped garden walkways offer a colorful backdrop for photos. Seasonality matters! We visited in late July just before a major storm, so the summer heat in the Philippines had left parts of the landscape looking a bit dry. Visiting when the blooms are at their peak makes a big difference.

Panoramic Windmill & Lake Views

The elevated vantage point offers clear views of Laguna de Bay and the Pililla Windmills standing tall in the distance. However, if you want to experience them up close, it is better to visit Santi’s Farmhouse in Pililla, Rizal.

Scenic Dining Areas (Al Fresco & Indoor AC)

The restaurant’s layout integrates outdoor seating right alongside the mountain slopes, allowing guests to dine surrounded by cool breezes and greenery. There is also an air-conditioned area.

Attentive Staff

The team at Gaea’s is remarkably accommodating. Our group can get pretty energetic and rowdy (kalog), but our server handled our playful table with ease and even helped us snap group photos.

The Food: What We Tried

Alfredo Pasta

Their Alfredo Pasta (₱380) is perfectly cooked penne tossed in a rich, savory mushroom cream sauce, topped with golden-brown, crispy chicken cutlets for crunch. In keeping with Gaea’s Kitchen garden aesthetic, it comes garnished with vibrant, edible flower petals and fresh herbs—making it instantly photo-ready.

Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese (₱375) features classic spaghetti coated in tomato sauce, topped with a large, well-seasoned meatball that adds real depth and flavor. Plated with fresh parsley, grated parmesan, and edible flower petals, this was the clear winner among our group—the meatball was delicious and stole the show.

Verdict

Gaea’s Kitchen makes a fantastic final stop for a Tanay road trip. Between the flexible indoor and outdoor seating, photogenic pasta dishes, and picturesque views, it provides a relaxed atmosphere to unwind. Paired with great food and good company, it was the perfect backdrop for catching up after five years on the road.
