When planning our trip to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia a friend who had previously visited recommended Likas Square Apartment Hotel. Since she traveled with a large group, she knew it would be a great option for my party of 10 people — and she was right! This hotel offers spacious units at an affordable price, making it perfect for big groups.
Our travel plans hit a small bump when Cebu Pacific informed us that our flight had been rescheduled, which meant adjusting our hotel booking as well. Fortunately, Likas Square Apartment Hotel responded to my email immediately and updated our reservation without any hassle — a great first impression!
From the airport, it took us only 15 minutes to reach the hotel, and there was no traffic at the time.
While the lobby wasn’t particularly impressive, stepping into our unit felt like entering a home away from home!
My mom’s friends and I were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and posh the unit was — we loved it!

However, there was no microwave oven, which would have been a handy addition.

On the ground floor, just behind the front office, there’s a grocery store — perfect for picking up snacks or essentials.
The pool area is also available for guests, but be sure to bring your own towel as they aren’t provided at the poolside.

Lesson Learned
- With people in their 20s, spontaneous plans and cab rides are often enough.
- But with people closer to my mom’s age, planning ahead with security in mind becomes essential.
