Our high school friend, Robin Scherbatsky, celebrated her birthday last September 16 with us (a.k.a her high school loves). I am calling her Scherbatsky, because it was her birthday and I had to make her happy. I felt really special when she wanted to spend her exact birthday with us. Yes, that’s how splendid I felt. Lol! I do not know how we ended up having dinner at Burgoo restaurant in SM North EDSA the Block, but I bet it was either her best friend or just the celebrant who suggested the place.
We had the Shrimps and Ribs Platter (P 695). The baby back ribs exploded in barbecue flavor while the Cajun fried prawns were nearly spiced. In other words, we totally made our taste buds happy! The platter is served with US fries and grilled corn on the cob.

The Tomato Basil Spaghetti (P 475) is chock-full of tangy tomato sauce. We added more parmesan cheese to amplify its taste. I was already happy with the dish, but I also liked the second pasta dish we ordered, which is Grilled Chicken Alfredo (P 595). It’s delicious, but I find it quite dry. The grilled chicken breast that comes with the dish was enormous, too!
The Seafood Jambalaya (P 395), on the other hand, (highly recommended by our friend, Jeanne) is a combination of mussels, calamari, shrimps, chorizo, green peas, bell pepper and white onions. The rice used in the dish is a long grain type. I was surprise that the dish was not that heavy.
The ambiance of the place is that of a typical American restaurant, but what is amazing is that their serving size is American as well – they have big servings perfect for groups. The waitress said that each dish serves two to three people, but each dish we ordered was enough for all six of us. We even took home the leftovers! The price is reasonable and their service is good, too. They also sang Happy Birthday to our dear friend and gave her a complimentary ice cream dessert!
