I was walking along Sky Garden when I heard a bunch of people boisterously chatting and laughing as they eat their slice of cake. They were dining at Banapple, of course. I suddenly felt my glutton nerve twitch. I wanted to grab a bite there, but there was no available table for me. This scenario is very familiar at around 4 PM to 7 PM, which means that the peak hour in such places is also the time when I always loiter around the area. The branch just opened last November 8, but people are already swarming the newly-opened restaurant in SM North Quezon City.
It was my mother’s birthday when I finally had the chance to dine at Banapple’s 9thbranch. Fortunately, my parents opted to celebrate by having lunch instead of dinner since they know how much people would be fighting over seats during peak hours.

Pan-fried Porkloin with Herb Mushroom Gravy P195.00. My dad ordered this sliced pork smothered in a thick mushroom and herb gravy which has a sweet and salty taste.
Hickory Smoked Barbecued Country Ribs P200.00 This was my dad’s first pick, but since hickory sauce contains sugar (which my father needs to have in moderation due to his diabetes), my mother ordered this one instead. Their country ribs are tender!
Bacon Fried Chicken Steaks with Milk’shroom Gravy P190.00 Did you know that chicken meat becomes dry when boiled? Anyway, I ordered this one, because the fat from the bacon would complement the dryness of the chicken.
Cake
Maple Pecan and Candied Bacon Cheesecake P120.00 The birthday would not be complete without a cake, so I ordered a slice for my mom. By the way, I picked this one because it has bacon in it. I know, I know, it sounds like I’m a bacon maniac, but I was simply curious about how it would taste on a dessert, you see. We tried it and realized that the bacon was actually sugared which turned out to be a perfect combination for the smooth whipped cream, cream cheese, and firm graham crust. So, for those who seem to doubt the idea of putting bacon on a cake: Worry not.
