Quezon City, while known as the most populated city in the Philippines, is not particularly famous for its skyscrapers compared to Makati, the country’s business district.

As someone living in Quezon City, discovering Chill Top restaurant and bar felt like a stroke of luck. I no longer have to travel to Makati or Ortigas and endure 2-3 hours of traffic just to enjoy a scenic city view. This rooftop resto-bar, conveniently located in Cubao, offers a stunning cityscape without the long commute. On top of that, the comfort food and budget-friendly drinks make it an ideal spot for locals — truly a win-win situation.

No need to go far to have a view of the city by going to this restaurant in Cubao

We went there before sunset, and the view was simply majestic. Although the penthouse is only up to the 14th floor, there aren’t many neighboring buildings to obstruct the 360-degree view of the city, making this resto-bar a perfect spot to unwind.

At night, the view becomes even more charming with the twinkling city lights.

Most of the food served is “pulutan” — snacks that pair well with alcoholic drinks — but don’t worry, they also serve rice. The Chicken Barbecue (₱165) is generously coated in sauce. Despite being labeled “mini,” it was still enough to leave me feeling full. The Hickory Dickory Pork (₱254) comes with a sweet sauce, but I must say, don’t expect the meat to be exceptionally tender.

The newest addition to their menu, Flasher Squid (₱320), is indeed flashy. It was served in a towering presentation, with the squid coated for added crispiness and a vinegar dip on the side. The Flasher Squid tasted great and was well-seasoned.

During my first visit, I got to experience their Chill Along, an amenity for guests who enjoy singing. I tried several drinks that night, but it was the Choco Slush (₱205) — a mix of gin, vodka, rum, chocolate, and milk — that captured my taste buds. It’s sweet but not overly so, and alcoholic yet pleasantly mild. It was the drink I enjoyed the most.

Visiting Chill Top Cubao is worthwhile, whether it’s crowded or not, since it spans two floors. The first floor of the penthouse is air-conditioned, but the glass windows still provide a stunning view. At night, this area comes alive with a live band.

Meanwhile, the second floor of the penthouse is open-air, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view.

Lastly, the Chill Along KTV Bar, located near the elevator, is also spacious. It can accommodate up to 30 people and even has its own restroom.

As mentioned, the prices are budget-friendly, and the serving sizes are reasonable for the cost. While the food is delicious, it’s not particularly exceptional. The waitstaff are polite, but the food preparation took longer than expected.
