On June 28, Skippy’s Bar & Grill opened its doors in BGC, bringing a taste of Australia to the Philippines. Owned by the lovely couple Miss Cristina Sarabia and Sir Stephen Bird, this restaurant offers a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere.

During our visit, my co-bloggers and I had the pleasure of chatting with Miss Gella, the brand’s marketing employee. She shared insights about the various symbols and paraphernalia displayed on the walls, all of which hold special meaning for Australians. Miss Gella also mentioned that Skippy’s primarily caters to expats.

After that, we enjoyed an hour-long Aussie feast. Here’s what we had:
Skippy’s Appetizer
Battered Dim Sims (P 250.00)
A popular Australian snack resembling fried dumplings, but slightly larger than nuggets. They’re best enjoyed with a sprinkle of salty seasoning and a creamy mayo dip.

Skippy’s Salad
This hearty salad combines lettuce, ham, grilled chicken, egg, and cheese, with thinly sliced vegetables. It’s filling enough to be a meal on its own.

Green Salad
This salad has a stronger focus on greens than Skippy’s Salad but comes with the same flavorful dressing.

Shepherd’s Pie
This dish stood out for me! Unlike typical homemade pies, this version features ground lamb topped with rich, creamy mashed potatoes — absolutely delicious!

Shawarma Pizza
A must-try! This pizza is generously loaded with toppings like onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, cumin, mozzarella, grilled sirloin, and even yogurt for a unique twist.

Chicken Parmigiana
This oven-baked, crumbed chicken is topped with tomato sauce and melted cheese. The criss-cross fries served alongside are also quite appealing.

Skippy’s Meats
Baby Back Ribs
The ribs were tender but a bit oily for my liking.

Salisbury Steak
Served with coleslaw like the ribs, this dish had a smaller burger patty than expected, but the flavor was decent.

The Big Breakfast
This generous breakfast set includes two eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, a hash brown, toasted bread, butter, and either unlimited brewed coffee or a glass of iced tea. Totally worth it!

Skippy’s Drink
Cranberry Juice
This refreshing drink helped me wash down all the food I ate — definitely a good choice! Meanwhile, Carol ordered Four Seasons (P 100.00).

Strawberry Margarita
Their Strawberry Margarita is less intense than Chihuahua’s but still enjoyable.
Flaming Lambhorgini
After our meal, we were treated to a Flaming Lamborghini, which was captured on camera by Aldous. Thanks again for the invite, Aldous!

Skippy’s Verdict
From the charming interiors to the flavorful dishes, I absolutely loved the restaurant’s ambiance. The setup reminded me of what you’d typically see in international films, especially with the bar situated at the center — a detail I personally enjoy.
While their air conditioning wasn’t working properly during our visit, they assured us they were addressing it along with their Wi-Fi connection. Adding to the experience, Skippy’s offers different activities each day. Since we visited on a Tuesday, we were treated to a lovely acoustic night.
As for pricing, I believe their portions are reasonable for the cost. Honestly, I’d have enjoyed the food even more if I weren’t watching my diet! Lastly, I must say that the servers were incredibly cheerful and welcoming.
Would I go back? Definitely!
