Last Saturday, my friend Obin called me to hang out somewhere and I told her that we eat at Maginhawa Street instead of being an avid idler of malls. Maginhawa is a place in Quezon City where start-up businesses are situated. It is amazing that the public has patronized Maginhawa Street and became a go-to place especially to the students and young adults like us. Ahem!
From the name itself, I couldn’t think more of anything but something divine. I found out just now that it was named after a Christian church so that explains why there are inspirational quotes on the walls. When we arrived, we saw that there were only two tables occupied and we were lucky because Robin said that there are times that the café is full house.
There are books, too!
According to my research, these artworks are for sale for charity works.
I ordered their bestseller Chicken Pesto (P 220). The pasta is not totally flavored so the waitress’ SOP is to serve the pasta together with the salt, pepper, and parmesan (because not all restaurants are like this, am I right?). The serving is enough to make me full and I bet they used real basil leaves for the dish. You got to see and taste it for yourself.
When I saw the statement written on their walls, it was then I realized that Hillcrest is a wellness café which means they are using organic products. Therefore I conclude that the basil they used on my pesto is really fresh!
Meanwhile, Obin ordered Tuna Aglio Olio (P 200). I tried it and it’s good, too but Obin frankly said to me that there are times that the taste of this particular dish varies but still, she always buy it because it is her favorite.
She also ordered coffee.
The serving is enough to make me full so for my P200, the pricing is just perfect. The taste is actually not something so magical or different but it is just fascinating that they use organic ingredients so I’m giving it a 4. The place is well-lit, air-conditioned, and spacious. The cashier who is also the waitress is polite so I’m giving it a 5!
